Some plans for 2017!

I could place a bet that even half of these aren't actually going to happen but I will try.

In 2016 I got almost nothing done. I couldn't follow my plans, I didn't even want to look at my sewing machine and when I finally did I cried blood mentally. I could say that everything I made... Pretty much failed (well okay I think that my Italy cosplay was okay).
I would like to change these things in 2017 since I love this hobby very much. The greatest problem here seems to be my attitude ("I'll just fail so why should I even try, seriously?") and luckily I can affect it!

But yes, some plans...

Avalon from StarStable Online.

I'll try to make this druid guy for Yukicon but at the moment I'm facing kind of huge problem - I can't find fabrics for this. Yes, I know, it's just fifty shades of gray but I've only come across way too thin fabrics by far.
I so hope that I'll finish Avalon in time - he's such a cool guy!

Chikane Himemiya from Kannazuki no Miko.

...I don't even know what to say about her anymore. God damn it, I've tried to finish making this priestess costume for almost two years now and I'm STILL stuck with it!! *insert some rage here* My frustration is actually one of the main reasons why I want to make this costume ready... And guess what - I finally came across someone who wants to cosplay Himeko Kurusugawa! <3

Prussia from Hetalia: Axis Powers.

...though I don't know which version of him I want to make. I love Prussia as a character a lot and his outfits are just too cool! I might stick with his most common uniform, but I'd like to cosplay Teutonic Knights!Prussia too. Decisions, decisions.

Yang Jinghua from Ling Qi.

I watched this Chinese anime quite recently and I fell for this character in no time. Yes, he's quite foolish at times but when he actually takes action... HOLY F*CK. It will be quite interesting to cosplay him alone though (he always protects Duanmu Xi though in this version he's also connected to Duanmu Luoye).
And I just might have started to make stuff for this character already, oops...

Nasu Suketaka Yoichi from Drifters.

I begun to watch Drifters a while ago. When this young man appeared for the first time I practically fell from my chair - this guy is just too awesome.
He's actually based on a real historical character but I don't think that that guy was this... Derp. Because yes, the animated version of him can be a bit silly sometimes but that just brings some happiness and joy to his character!
I'm quite sure that I won't make this cosplay anytime soon though; perhaps in the summer or in the autumn.

Keisuke Sannan from Hakuouki.

I begun to watch Hakuouki quite recently... And when I saw this character it was love at first sight. I just love his personality and design! ;__; This character is also based on a real historical character, Keisuke Yamanami, and that makes this guy even more interesting!
I'm not quite sure when I'm going to make Sannan-san but I really hope that I manage to make it in 2017.
(And this was, once again, one of those "where in seven Hells are your reference pictures?" characters, that's why I chose this pic even though I'm not likely to make that haori. Note: likely.)

There's one more character on my cosplay list but I'll keep it secret yet~ don't worry, it's a character I will definitely make during 2017. I just don't want to tell about it just yet.

But yeah, here are my plans for 2017!
...and I didn't even list my own characters here...

Looks like I'm going to be busy this year! :'DD I really hope that I'll manage make at least some of these costumes - these characters are very dear to me and I want to cosplay each one of them as soon as possible. ;__;
Oh, and the cons that I will definitely attend this year are Yukicon, Tampere Kuplii, Tylycon and Tracon. I think that I'll attend more conventions but those are on the "must attend" list.

Cosplay plans for Tracon 2016!

Hello folks!

Since I'm not going to any summer conventions this year I decided to tell my final cosplay plans for Tracon. I just didn't feel like going to Desucon or Animecon so I just decided to skip them this year (which actually doesn't bother me that much since this summer I have A LOT of work to do so I'll probably be dead tired all the time).
But anyway, those plans for Tracon!

Saturday

North Italy (Feliciano Vargas) from Axis Powers: Hetalia. 

Since I'll keep a lecture about Hetalia on Saturday I decided to cosplay someone from the said series. Usually I cosplay France - as you know pretty well - but this time I decided to cosplay somebody else. 

North Italy's personality is quite different from mine but that's exactly what makes cosplaying him so funny! Making that uniform might not be so funny though, I can already see myself banging my head to a wall... 

I won't be a "forever alone Feliciano" but I won't tell just yet who will belong to the group - I think that they might want to tell it themselves.

Ebony Darkness Dementia Raven Way from a fanfic My Immortal,written by Tara Gillesbie.

Oh yes.
OH YES.

I will cosplay this "omg I will love Draco Malfoy forever but Vampire Potter is the second best boy in the world!!1" lady once again, this time in a different outfit though - I read the fic through once again and despite my constant cringe I managed to find some information about her clothes. We've also been talking about a My Immortal cosplay group with my friends and I really hope that we will make it to Tracon! 

This time I'll sew some parts for Ebony's costume myself.
I still hate the character to nuts (and I hate her clothes ((not her style though)), those pieces of fabric will be so uncomfortable to wear) but since it's pretty funny to derp around as her I decided to cosplay her again.

But, yeah, these are my cosplay plans for Tracon!

At the moment I'm waiting for a couple of wigs to arrive and I should also review Italy's lenses - that might not happen in a while though since my eyes have been so dry lately that they could become a part of Sahara without anybody questioning it.
The lecture I'll keep will be in Finnish. Like I've said before, I won't keep lectures in English yet. I write and speak it quite fluently but... Nope, not yet.

Tampere Kuplii 2016 cosplay plans

Since my cosplay plans for Tampere Kuplii 2016 have changed a bit I decided to update them here too. I will attend the event next weekend and sadly I won't be able to take part to the cosplay competition - my sewing machine decided to have a holiday and completely just... Broke. After an angry staring contest with it I decided to make Chikane ready some other time (the costume is nearly ready now!) and concentrate on something else.

So.

Saturday

Young Severus Snape from Harry Potter. Note; I don't have this costume at ready yet so I'll be cosplaying a casual version of him. I'm likely to dress in my black jeans, black cowboy boots and black polo shirt since, well, it's almost the greatest joke in the fandom how much Severus reminds people about an overgrown bat. 

I don't have the wand for him either and I won't use Ebony's wand for him so that costume will really be... Casual. Another option for Saturday is Ayame but I really don't feel like putting any "real" cosplay costume on. Of course this will be a real one too but... Nah, you get it. 

Sunday

If I'll cosplay anyone on Sunday it will be Josh. Another option was Itachi but that costume needs some fixing and the wig is quite horrible to wear so no can do. And I actually like Josh as a costume very much; even though I made nothing for it myself the costume still looks good and I actually look like the character. Not to mention I just simply love Josh; he doesn't speak that much and I've always seen him as a young rebel.

So there are my cosplay plans for the weekend! Shameless will also attend the con on Saturday but I have no idea what he's going to wear probably because even he doesn't know what to wear lol so I have no idea if we'll have a pair cosplay or not. 

And hopefully I'll get a new sewing machine/I manage to fix that one before it's time to start sewing the costume(s) for Cosvision... *bangs head to the wall*

Hieman groteskimpi romanssi. (2/2)/A bit more grotesque romance. (2/2)

Seuraavana vuorossa olikin sen kaulahärpäkkeen tekeminen. Materiaaleina käytin punaista satiinia ja tarranauhaa. Se ei kauaa vienyt! ^^

The next thing I made was the necklace thing. I used red satin and velcro. This didn't take much time! ^^

Seuraavan projektin nimi olikin sitten alushame. Itse hame ei ole sen kummoisempi kuin päällyshamekaan, tässä vain erotuksena se, että käytin erilaista kangasta + vetoketjun sijasta kuminauhaa. Kuvamateriaalia tästä vaiheesta ei juuri sen vuoksi tullut otettua.

The next part of the project was making the petticoat. It´s not very different from the skirt but there are two differences: I used different fabric + I used thick elastic band insted of the zipper. Because of what I just said I didn´t take pictures at all when I made the petticoat.

Myös meikkitesti tuli tuossa nopeasti tehtyä. Faktoja: näyttää paljon paremmalta pitkän matkan päästä, kulmakarvani olivat turkoosimmat luonnossa (joskaan eivät kunnon "Miku-turkoosit") enkä ole innostunut tekoripsien käytöstä. Aikaa tähän ei kulunut kuin pieni hetki. Käytin valkoista kajaalia, mustaa nestemäistä eyelineria sekä melkein liikaa ripsiväriä. Kulmakarvat värjäsin ensin valkoisiksi, ja sitten laitoin päälle sinistä ja vihreää luomiväriä. Tosin, turkoosi väri kannattaa kyllä ihan hankkia, kuvissa tämä tekniikka ei toiminut.


I also made a quick make-up test. Facts: that looks better from a far distance, my eyebrows were more turquoise in IRL (though they weren´t that "Miku turquoise shade") and I´m not interested in using false eyelashes. This only took a little moment. I used white eyeliner, black liquid eyeliner and almost too much mascara. Eyebrows: firstly I dyed them white with white eyeliner and then added blue and green eyeshadow. Though it would be good idea to buy turquoise eyeliner or something because the technic I used didn´t work very well as you can see from the pic.

Seuraavaksi ompelinkin sen korsettitopin. Ei jumalavita, en edes käsitä, mitä onnistuin sössimään, mutta palat olivat aivan järkyttävästi eri kokoisia ja mallikin heitteli sen vuoksi vähän sinne sun tänne. Hoksasin kuitenkin, että topin takakappale istui melko hyvin myös eteen sovitettuna, joten teinkin periaatteessa sitten kaksi takaosaa. Tuo muuten istuu paremmin kuin yksikään muu ennen yrittämäni versio kyseisestä topista. Yksi hieman harmillinen virhe kyllä pääsi käymään, mutta ei siitä sen enempää. Ja toisaalta, enhän minä täysin ohjeiden mukaan tehnytkään, joten eipä se kai virheettä olisi luonnistunutkaan.
Topin materiaalina käytin trikoota, joka ei ole sitä kaikkein joustavinta. Jos olisin valinnut hiemankin joustavamman kankaan, tuskin tästä projektista olisi tullut niinkään hyvää kuin nyt.

The next thing I made was the corset top. *insert some swearing here* I don´t even know what I managed to fail but in the end I had random fabric pieces in different sizes and that´s why the shape of them was also... I don´t even know how to describe it. Then I noticed that the back part of the top would turn out to be pretty good front part too so in practice I made two back parts. That actually looks better than other versions I tried to make of the same top. I managed to make a little mistake but I won´t say anything else about it. Besides I didn´t do almost anything like I was supposed to do so I guess that avoiding mistakes would have been impossible.
I used tricot which wasn´t the most strechable one. If I had chosen a fabric with more strech I guess that this project would have failed more than it did now.

Eikä se niin pahalta näytä, eihän? / Imo it doesn´t looks so bad, does it?

Kuvan krediitit menevät äidille. Tiedän, että ryhtini on ehkä se maailman huonoin, enkä vaivautunut meikkaamaankaan, kun en peruukkiakaan omista (lainaan sen siis kaveriltani). Plus että asu ei ole oikeasti noin oranssi vaan todella punainen, mutta kameran failure.
Mustat sukkahousutkin omistan kyllä jo, niitä en tosin tehnyt itse, enkä juuri kuvanottohetkellä ollut varma niiden lokaatiosta. Tuo asu on melkein hämmentävän punainen, pakko myöntää.

Pic © my mother. I know that my posture is maybe the worst in the world and I didn´t bother to do the make-up since I didn´t have the wig (I´ll borrow it from my friend). The costume isn´t that orange IRL -it´s very red- but my camera failed.
I also own the black leggings/thighs/you know what I mean. I didn´t make them and I wasn´t sure where they were (now I know it but at that moment when we took pics I didn´t know) so that´s why I don´t have them in this pic. That costume is almost confusingly red, really. 

Seuraavassa päivityksessä kerronkin Mikun loppusälät + aloittelenpa sitä Ranskaa - paitsi jos nyt julkaisen tuon yhden päivityksen ennen kuin toimeennun varsinaisesti muuta tekemään.

Yukiconin cosplay-suunnitelmia.

Pahoittelen muuten hiljaiseloani blogin puolella. Koulu vain on vienyt aika paljon aikaani, ja kaikkea muutakin on sattunut ja tapahtunut. Kyllä tämä tästä vielä!

I´m sorry that I haven posted that much nowadays. School has taken a lot of my time and much else has also happened. I´ll be fine!

Icy - päänsärky jo ennen peruukin muokkaamista./Icy - my headache even before making the wig.

Otsikko kertoo kaiken. Winx Club -lastenohjelmasta tuttu jäänoita ja Trix-kolmikon johtaja Icy on jo onnistunut aiheuttamaan omanlaistaan päänsärkyä. Ja tässäpä nyt sitten kerronkin, että mistä on lähdetty ja mihin ratkaisuun on päädytty.
The title tells everything. Icy, the ice witch and leader of the Trix sisters who is known from children´s cartoon Winx Club, has caused me a great headache in its own way. And now I´ll tell where everything begun and what I decided.

Tämä versio oli alunperin suunnitelmissani. Olen aina ihannoinut tätä pukua kaikkein eniten, ja halusinkin lähteä toteuttamaan sitä - kunnes sitten huomasin, ettei tarvitsemaani kangasta ole _yhtään missään_. Ja tällä tosiaan tarkoitan, että tuollaista kangasta ei ole. Kävin läpi ulkomaisiakin kangaskauppoja, tuloksetta. Pohdin myös erilaisia kangasvaihtoehtoja, mutta lopulta tulin siihen tulokseen, että suurin osa muista kiiltäisi liikaa tai sitten liian vähän. Kenties teen tämän version, kun löydän kankaan. Olen nimittäin erittäin optimistinen sen suhteen, että se tulee vielä vastaan jossakin cosplay-elämäni vaiheessa.
In the beginning I planned to make this version. I´ve always preferred this version of her and that´s why I wanted to make this - and then I noticed that the fabric I would need _does not exist_. And I really mean that I can find fabric like that nowhere. I also checked foreign fabric shops but still I didn´t find it. I also considered other fabric options but in the end I understood that most of the other fabrics would shine too much or not enough. Perhaps I´ll make this version when when I find the fabric. I´m pretty optimistic that I´ll find it during my cosplay life.

Seuraava vaihtoehto olikin tämä. Luoja, katsokaa kuinka kaunis asu tämäkin on! Ennen pitkää kuitenkin tajusin, että rahkeeni eivät riitä tämän version kantamiseen. Icyn vartalonmuoto on kaikkea muuta kuin realistinen, ja olen melko ylpeä siitä, että olen ihminen, mutta herranjestas. Katsokaa nyt tuota. Lienee suhteellisen selvää, miksi lemppasin tämän version pois. Kommentointia en pelkää, mutta oloni tuossa olisi niin järkyttävän epävarma, että se pilaisi koko conifiiliksen enkä pääsisi eläytymään hahmoon kunnolla. Vaikka en nyt cossatessani näytä itseltäni, niin voisin sanoa, että tuo menee jo pitkälti mukavuusalueeni ulkopuolelle.
The next option was this version of her. Gosh, look how beautiful this version of her is! But when I thought about this I understood that I could never wear this costume. Icy´s body shape is everything but realistic and I´m pretty proud of being a human but gosh. Look at that now. I think you all can guess why I won´t make this version of her. I´m not afraid of comments but I would feel so self-doubting that it ruined the whole con and I couldn´t be like the character at all. Though I don´t look like myself when cosplaying I could say that that version really is out of my comfort zone.

No mitäpä sitten? Jätetäänkös tämä suosiolla vain tähän? Cossi, jonka olen halunnut tehdä viimeiset kaksi vuotta - pitäisikö se vain jättää tekemättä? ...oletettavasti jättäisin, jos luovuttaminen olisi sanavarastossani edes kunnolla olemassa. Ehdin jo empiä jonkin aikaa, mutta sitten vastaani tuli versio, joka ei ole näitä kahta helpompi - paitsi materiaalinsa vuoksi, ja sitä kangastakin on aika riittämiin!
Well, now what? Should I just leave it here? The costume that I´ve wanted to make for last two years now - should I just not make it? ...I probably wouldn´t if "giving up" existed in my vocabulary. I was hesitant for a while but then I found a version that isn´t easier than these - except that I can find the material and there´s enough fabric!

Icy, Winx Clubin kaudelta numero 6. Liehuvia hihoja, yksityiskohtia, mahtava hahmo ja tarkkuutta vaativaa työtä! Tämän nähtyäni päässäni alkoivat raksuttaa jos jonkinlaiset ideat, ja päätös oli tehty muutamissa sekunneissa: tämän version minä haluan tehdä! Oletettavasti alan kasata tätä neitokaista melko piankin, sillä asun ompeluosuudet eivät niinkään vaikuta tappavilta. Sen sijaan peruukin ja kengät siirrän suosiolla lähemmäksi Frostbitea, sillä ne vaikuttavat niiltä osilta, jotka hajoavat kaikkein herkimmin.
Työjärjestys on siis seuraava: Icyn ompeluosuuksista aloitetaan, ja sen jälkeen siirrytäänkin tarkkailemaan projektia Akira Nikaido. Lukan asun teen, jos aikaa vain sattuu jäämään, sillä Icya kohtaan innostukseni nousi juuri yli 9000: n. Tätä siis lähden tekemään - en malta odottaa sitä, että pääsen kangaskauppaan etsimään kankaita!
Icy from season 6 of Winx Club. Fluttery sleeves, details, great character and much things that really need concentrating on them! After seeing this I started to get ideas and I made the decision in a few seconds: I want to make this version! I´ll most likely start to make this costume pretty soon because sewing parts don´t seem to be too bad. I won´t start making the wig or the shoes just yet because they seem to be those parts that will break pretty easily.
So: I´ll start making the Frostbite costumes with the sewing parts of Icy costume and after that I´ll start project Akira Nikaido. I´ll make the new Luka costume if I have time because my interests towards Icy just rose over 9000. This is what I´ll begin to make - I can´t wait for the time when I´ll finally be able to go to the fabric shop to search the materials!
